We welcome artist Peggy Hinaekian to the gallery.

We are proud to announce Primavera Gallery will by representing the work of artist Peggy Hinaekian.  Peggy’s paintings are acrylic and/or oil on canvas.  As a colorist, she uses simple shapes with subtle color shifts to create powerful images evoking desert or beach landscapes.

Before becoming a professional artist she began a formal career as a fashion designer in New York.  Her award-winning art has been exhibited internationally and can be found in numerous corporate and private collections including Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway and Her Royal Highness Farah Diba. Her etchings are distributed by Christie’s Contemporary Art of London and Editions Francony of France.  She works in Switzerland and in the United States.

Exhibition at the Autry Museum

Primavera Gallery Artists Exhibiting at the Autry Museum

I am pleased to announce  Jennifer Moses, a landscape painter and sculptor, Bela Bacsi, will be exhibiting their work during the California Art Club’s 101st Gold Medal Exhibition at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles from April 1 – 22, 2012.

In 1909, the California Art Club was formed by artists painting in the plein-air tradition and have been exhibiting together since 1911.   The Autry National Center and the California Art Club have joined together to present a collection of work created by some of the finest traditional artists of our time.  The exhibition features landscape, figurative and still-life paintings as well as sculptures in a variety of mediums.

Community Unites To Protect Ojai’s Wildlife

A small group of environmental activists and residents of Rancho Matilija gathered for brunch Saturday at the home of Alanna Tarkington to celebrate a two-year program implemented by locals (in collaboration with the homeowner’s association) to help turn their neighborhood “green.” The primary focus of many concerned Rancho Matilija residents has been to reduce the use of pesticides for weed abatement, and to modify the timing and methods of clearing brush from undeveloped lots in the neighborhood and surrounding landscapes —- all with the purpose of reducing risk and mortality to wildlife in the area.

Joining the Ojai group was Wayne Pacelle, CEO and president of the Humane Society of the United States, who was in Ojai as part of a national book tour for his New York Times best-seller, “The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them.” After his Rancho Matilija tour, Pacelle visited Primavera Gallery in downtown to hold a reception and book signing.
