Artist Biography – Steven Spiro

Dreams, meditative inspirations, visions, and nature itself are the sources of my artistic adventures in creating functional wood furniture. Forms of nature are represented in a simplified, organic style that is very flowing and sensual, like the hills and valleys of my southwest Wisconsin home. The elements composing various pieces of furniture are meant to be flowing, energetic interpretations of solid objects. Like the Impressionist and Post- Impressionist painters, I seek to depict the energetic atmosphere in which seemingly solid objects arise. The landscape appears as a complex, energized, harmonious presence much more than a collection of solid objects.
